This page explains what How to Sell Data collects, why, and who can see it. We collect little: the answers you give in our eligibility check, a record of each click on an Apply button, and anonymous traffic statistics. We never sell personal data.
What we collect
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Eligibility answers: company size, status (operating, closing or closed), main market and the record types you hold | When you use the eligibility check | To show you the right result and to understand what our visitors need |
| Apply clicks: the time, the page and button, your country, whether the visit looks like a bot, how you reached the site (one broad class) and a hash of your IP address | When you click an Apply button | To see which pages and buttons lead to registrations |
| Traffic statistics | When you visit | To see which pages are read and how visitors arrive |
We don’t ask for your name, phone number or company name. You can use the whole site, including the eligibility check, without giving an email address.
The data inventory worksheet keeps your entries in this browser’s storage on your device, so your list is still there when you come back. It sends nothing to us or to anyone else. To delete the entries, use Remove on each line, or clear this site’s data in your browser.
How we store and use it
We store eligibility answers and Apply click records in a database on Cloudflare. With each set of answers we also store the result, the page you started from, your country (Cloudflare works it out from your IP address), how you reached the site as one broad class such as google, chatgpt or direct, a hash of your IP address that limits repeat submissions, and a random code. We use the answers to show your result and to see which kinds of companies visit. Access is limited to the people who run this site.
We do not sell personal data. We do not share your eligibility answers with any buyer.
Apply clicks
When you click Apply, our own address records the click and sends you on to the buyer’s site. What you enter there is handled under that site’s privacy policy. We never store the address of the page you came from or your IP address itself, and we set no cookies.
The hash is made from your IP address and a random salt that changes every UTC day. Within a day, it lets us tell whether two clicks came from one connection. Anyone who holds the salt could test an IP address against the hash, so we treat it as personal data.
How long we keep it
We keep each Apply click, and each eligibility check submission, for 90 days from the day it was recorded. After that we add it to a daily total and delete the record. The deletion runs once a day, so a record can stay up to a day past its limit. A click total holds the day, the page, the button, the partner, whether the visit looks like a bot and the broad class for how you reached the site, plus a count. A check total holds the day, the page, the result, the company size, status and main market answers and the same broad class, plus a count. Neither holds a country, IP hash, email address, random code or record number.
We clear the IP hash from a submission after 90 days. We delete each day’s salt when the first click or form of the next UTC day is recorded.
Cloudflare keeps point-in-time backups of our database, which it calls Time Travel, for the last 30 days. A record we delete can stay in a backup for up to 30 days after we delete it, and so can a day’s salt. See Cloudflare’s Time Travel documentation.
Traffic statistics
We measure traffic with Cloudflare Web Analytics. Cloudflare says that it does not use cookies or localStorage to collect usage metrics, and that it does not fingerprint individuals for its analytics.
When you continue to the buyer’s site
When you continue from the eligibility check to the buyer’s site, you leave our site. The buyer receives the referral code in the link, and its own privacy policy covers what you enter on its pages. Our disclosure page explains the referral arrangement, and our guide to selling your company’s data to AI companies explains the process before you start.
Your choices
You can ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, using the contact line below. Answers you gave without an email address are stored with no name or email address, so we usually cannot tell which ones are yours. They are counted and deleted on the schedule above.
Children
This site is written for business owners and is not directed at children.
Changes
When we change this policy we update the date on the page. To learn what the site is and how it is funded, see our about page.
